Zutaten
  

  • 2 Tassen sugar beans (dry)
  • 6 Tassen Wasser
  • 1 Zwiebel, gehackt
  • 2 Knoblauchzehen, gehackt
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp schwarzer Pfeffer
  • 1-2 Lorbeerblätter
  • 1-2 tsp oil or butter (optional)
  • diced tomatoes, chopped chili, or herbs (Optional)

Anleitungen
 

  • Soak the beans: Rinse beans and soak in water for 4–6 hours or overnight to reduce cooking time and improve digestibility.
  • Boil: Drain the soaked beans and place in a large pot with 6 cups fresh water. Add onions, garlic, bay leaves, and optional ingredients.
  • Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender.
  • Season: Add salt, pepper, and oil or butter near the end of cooking. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Servieren: Serve warm as a side dish, main meal, or with pap.
