  • 2 potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp breyani mix or 1 tsp each of cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 tsp grated ginger or ½ tsp ground
  • ½ cup plain yoghurt or 1 grated tomato

  • 2–3 cups water
  • 1 handful fresh coriander or mint (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the rice: Rinse and cook rice in salted water until almost done. Drain and set aside.

  • Brown the meat: Add garlic, ginger, and spices to the remaining onions. Stir in the beef and fry until browned.

  • Steam: Add a splash of water, cover tightly, and let it steam on low heat for 10–15 minutes (or bake covered in the oven at 180°C for 20 mins).
