Fruit Mincemeat Filling. Follow this simple method to recreate a beloved classic at home.

Ingrédients
  

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup sultanas or currants
  • ½ cup chopped dried apricots
  • ½ cup chopped dates
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp mixed spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves)
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp brandy or rum (optional, for adult version)
  • 2 tbsp apple juice or water

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, combine all the dried fruits, brown sugar, spices, and salt.
  • Add the lemon juice, brandy/rum (if using), and apple juice or water.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10–15 minutes until the mixture is soft and thickened.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool.
  • Store in a sterilized jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or use immediately as pie filling.
