Fruit Mincemeat Filling. Follow this simple method to recreate a beloved classic at home.

- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup sultanas or currants
- ½ cup chopped dried apricots
- ½ cup chopped dates
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp mixed spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves)
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp brandy or rum (optional, for adult version)
- 2 tbsp apple juice or water
In a medium saucepan, combine all the dried fruits, brown sugar, spices, and salt.
Add the lemon juice, brandy/rum (if using), and apple juice or water.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10–15 minutes until the mixture is soft and thickened.
Remove from heat and let it cool.
Store in a sterilized jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or use immediately as pie filling.
