Sago Pudding

Sago Pudding. It brings a true taste of South Africa straight to your dining table.

Ingrédients
  

  • ½ cup sago pearls
  • 2 cups milk (or plant-based milk)
  • 3–4 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • pinch of salt
  • toppings: cinnamon, nutmeg, or grated coconut (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Soak the sago: Rinse the sago pearls in cold water. Soak for 10 minutes, then drain.
  • Cook the sago: In a medium pot, bring the milk to a gentle boil. Add the sago pearls and a pinch of salt.
  • Simmer: Reduce heat to low. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. Cook for about 20–25 minutes until the sago turns translucent and soft.
  • Sweeten and flavour: Add sugar and vanilla essence. Stir until dissolved and well combined.
  • Serve: Spoon into serving bowls. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, or grated coconut if desired. Serve warm or chilled.
