Sago Pudding
Sago Pudding. It brings a true taste of South Africa straight to your dining table.

- ½ cup sago pearls
- 2 cups milk (or plant-based milk)
- 3–4 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- pinch of salt
- toppings: cinnamon, nutmeg, or grated coconut (optional)
Soak the sago: Rinse the sago pearls in cold water. Soak for 10 minutes, then drain.
Cook the sago: In a medium pot, bring the milk to a gentle boil. Add the sago pearls and a pinch of salt.
Simmer: Reduce heat to low. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. Cook for about 20–25 minutes until the sago turns translucent and soft.
Sweeten and flavour: Add sugar and vanilla essence. Stir until dissolved and well combined.
Serve: Spoon into serving bowls. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, or grated coconut if desired. Serve warm or chilled.
