South African Fudge

Ingrédients
  

  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 5 tbsp hot water
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, heat the sugar and water over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Stir in the butter and syrup, and continue to mix until the butter is melted and fully incorporated.
  • Add the condensed milk to the mixture and stir well. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes, stirring regularly.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla essence. Whisk until smooth and thickened.
  • Pour the fudge mixture into a square dish and refrigerate.
  • Once cooled, cut it into 25 squares.
